BRIAN PETTY, RKC
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Brian Petty graduated from Downingtown High School and then studied abroad. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at West Chester University in 1995. Following his introduction to Russian Kettlebells in 2002, he was certified by Pavel Tsatsouline as a Russian Kettlebell Challenge™ (RKC) instructor. This certification is grueling and fewer than 800 RKCs are currently working world-wide.

Petty’s life-long involvement in martial arts began in over 20 years ago with Shotokan Karate. After years of traditional martial arts he became involved in Filipino Escrima, Muay Thai kickboxing, western amateur boxing, Russian Sombo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His training methods heavily incorporate combat conditioning techniques from mixed martial arts as well as Russian Kettlebells.

Brian has worked in the pharmaceutical, natural foods, and security and protection fields as well as strength and conditioning and nutrition. This diverse experience contributes to his effectiveness as a trainer for many different types of clients. Petty has served as strength and conditioning coach for several high school teams as well as training local law enforcement officers and SWAT teams. As a personal trainer his clients have ranged from 7 to 70, from sedentary to professional athletes. He has a reputation as an eclectic problem solver, able to customize diet and training regimens to each client.

Beginning in the early 90’s Brian was consulted by many bodybuilders. His extensive study of fat loss methods lead to the publication in 2001 of The High Fat Ketogenic Diet, an effective but poorly named diet. He is currently finishing a text book/instructional manual for stand-up fighting, Basic Training for Striking.

Brian currently offers personal training and nutritional counseling, small group classes, program creation and supervision, sports performance coaching, weight loss strategies, and more.
